Detail
Honeywell FEMA is a company whose history began in 1938 in Stuttgart. Two engineers, Vollrad Weber and Walter Freund, co-founded "Weber und Freund OHG". The product range initially includes mechanical pressure switches, thermostats and solenoid valves for industrial and heating technologies. A breakthrough came in 1974: FEMA pioneered work in the pressure vessel safety monitoring domain with newly designed pressure and temperature switches. Technical reviews of the product have demonstrated its suitability for use in safety-related applications, such as in potentially explosive steam systems. An important part of FEMA's corporate policy is to provide high quality products, innovative solutions and excellent customer service. FEMA control components are manufactured to high quality standards at the company's headquarters in Schnaich and are known for their reliability. FEMA pressure switches, transmitters and thermostats comply with SIL 2 (Safety Integrity Etc. 2) in IEC 61508-2. They represent "functional security" and interact with other security-related components, such as actuators and controls, to ensure that the system operates safely. The IEC 61508-2 standard is the basis for safety-related components of manufacturing process automation.
