The Wasson-ECE carburetor system is a self-co
ntained device for vaporizing samples of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), such as C3 and C4 hydrocarbon mixtures, for gas phase analysis on a gas chromatograph (GC). The system is designed with 35? L Ultra-low internal volume and includes a user optio
nal heater. A separate heater maintains this temperature through a heated transmission line to prevent co
ndensation during sampling on the GC.
Carburetors are suitable for methods that require a larger sample injection volume than is normally provided by liquid injection valves (LSVS). The system provides repeatable volatile liquids that may flash in LSVS and reduces the hardware and associated costs for GC systems with multiple channels.
